Soakaway & Site Characterisation
IGSL has extensive experience in assessing soil suitability for the dispersion of storm water through soakaway systems. Field tests are performed in accordance with BRE Digest 365 (Soakaway Design) to obtain soil infiltration rates.
We provide a soakaway design service, using rainfall values supplied by Met Eireann to calculate an optimum storage requirement and ascertain the most economical soakaway type and configuration.
Soakaway design options are prepared (e.g. trench system, concrete rings, modular units etc) and consideration is given to soil infiltration rate, standing water level, topography, space constraints and proximity to existing foundations, wells and waste water treatment systems.
We have experienced and qualified personnel to assess the suitability of a site for the treatment and discharge of wastewater using a septic tank or on-site treatment system. All work is performed in accordance with the EPA Wastewater Manuals “Treatment Systems for Single Houses’. Our service includes:
- Desk study
- Visual assessment
- Trial pits to establish soil conditions & water table
- Analysis of soil composition (PSD)
- Performance of percolation tests
- Design considerations
- System design
- Preparation of Site Characterisation Form
