Geotechnical Reports & Consultancy
IGSL provides geotechnical interpretative reports (GIR) to consulting engineers and civil engineering contractors. Detailed GIR’s have been prepared for a range of schemes including MSD Carlow, Intel, Amgen, Elan Maynooth, Indaver Duleek, Pfizer Ringaskiddy and numerous road projects, wind farms, IDA business parks. We work closely with consultants and contractors on optimizing foundations, developing temporary works and evaluating re-use of soils and rocks as engineering fill.
We also provide geotechnical design services for temporary slope batters, retaining wall structures and piles. This work is mainly carried out for civil engineering contractors and ground engineering contractors. Our aim is to provide practical, cost effective and value engineered solutions.
Safe slope batters are determined using a combination of geotechnical analysis and extensive experience gained over 30 years. Protective measures for slopes are designed and we provide follow up site inspections to ensure safety of site operations. Dowels, anchors and secondary support measures are designed in accordance with BS and Eurocode 7.
Slope analysis for deep excavations has been performed for a number of civil contractors, including:
- John Paul Construction (St Vincents Private Hospital, Ashtown, Drummartin Link Road etc)
- BAM Civil (Intel, Amgen)
- PJ Hegarty (MSD Carlow)
- Bennett Construction (Abbott Cootehill)
- Roadbridge (Arthurstown Landfill, M7 Kildare Bypass)
- Nicholas O’Dwyer (Jamaica)
Pile and retaining wall design is a core element of our consultancy services and recent projects include:
- Arcelor, Provence, France
- Indaver Waste Management Scheme, Duleek
- St Vincents Private Hospital, Dublin
- Merck Sharpe & Dohme Carlow.
Retaining wall design is undertaken for king post walls, contiguous and secant bored piled walls and sheet piles. Recent retaining wall design projects include the Ashtown Centre, St Vincents Private Hospital and Merck, Sharpe & Dohme Carlow.
IGSL also provide expert witness services on a range of geotechnical subjects, particularly rock excavatability, subsidence claims, pyrite and soil stabilization.
